bet365 review: the in-play specialist that still trails the US giants on reach
bet365 is a British giant with one of the deepest in-play menus anywhere and a US footprint much smaller than DraftKings or FanDuel. We weighed live markets, early payouts and its payout record against reach.
Our score
7.6/10Rated 7.6 out of 10
Verdict
bet365 is the sportsbook to open if you bet mostly while the game is on: the in-play menu is wide, Bet Builder is mature and some US states get partial cash-out that rivals lack. It loses points for a US footprint of roughly 15 states, a long public record of disputed payouts, and promotions that give you bonus bets, not cash. Pair it with a bigger book, do not replace one with it.
Best for
Live bettors who already hold an account at a larger US book
Deep in-play menu, and the company's own site promotes live Bet Builder and golf markets
Welcome offer of $5 stake for $150 in bonus bets, win or lose, with no code needed
Debit card, online banking and Venmo withdrawals reported at 1 to 4 hours
Early payout promotions settle moneylines once a team leads by a set margin
What held it back
Available in roughly 15 states, far fewer than DraftKings or FanDuel
Public record of disputed or refused payouts, including a New Jersey repayment order in 2024
Bonus bets return winnings only, not the stake, and expire after 7 days
Cash-out and live streaming differ by state, so the flagship features are not universal
Ask a hundred American bettors which sportsbook has the deepest live menu and a fair number will say bet365, then admit they cannot use it where they live. That tension is the review. The product is built for in-play betting. The footprint is not built for everyone.
A British giant arriving late
bet365 started in 2000 in Stoke-on-Trent. Denise Coates holds 50.1 percent of the shares and shares the chief executive role with her brother John. Wikipedia's most recent figures give FY2024 revenue of about £4 billion and a pre-tax profit of £349 million, with more than 10,000 staff.
The US came later. Plans for New Jersey were announced in 2018, and Colorado launched on 6 September 2022. Today the Daily Racing Form lists roughly 15 states for the welcome offer: Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia, with Missouri showing in its table. Third-party lists vary a lot (we saw 8 to 28 in search results), so check the app's own location test.

The live menu is the argument
The company's own features page for its product promotes Bet Builder+ on "a wide range of fantastic sports", golf each-way terms with up to 12 places on selected tournaments, and live coverage of "every drive, iron and putt". Those are marketing lines, but they point at what bet365 spends effort on: markets that keep moving.
Review sites broadly agree. Search results credited it with the most in-play markets of any US book and with partial cash-out, a feature most US books still skip. CBS Sports scores cash-out at 9.5 out of 10 for DraftKings and FanDuel and 8.7 for bet365, so on that single measure the giants edge it.

Streaming and early payouts are patchier. The Daily Racing Form says New York users get live streaming on high-profile events, and it describes early payout promotions where a moneyline is settled as a win once a team reaches a lead: 20 points in the NBA, three goals in the NHL, two in soccer, five runs in MLB. That rewards nerves, not skill, and it costs the book little because the leads rarely collapse.
The welcome offer, taken apart
The headline is bet $5 and get $150 in bonus bets, whether the first bet wins or loses. It needs a $10 minimum deposit, a qualifying bet at odds of -500 or longer, and use inside 7 days. It can be claimed in the app, with no code.
The catch sits in every bonus-bet deal. Stakes are not returned, so a $50 bonus bet at +200 pays $100, not $150. At best you are converting $150 of credit into roughly $100 to $120 of cash through sensible choices. That is still a good return on $5, and we say so plainly.
Getting money back out
The Racing Form's payment table is the most useful single thing we found. Debit card and online banking withdrawals are listed at 1 to 4 hours, Skrill at 2 to 24 hours and PayPal up to 24 hours, Venmo 1 to 4 hours. Credit cards run 1 to 5 days. One line in the same page says debit can take up to five business days, so the speeds are best-case.

The record on payouts
This is where we mark it down. Wikipedia's account of bet365 lists several refused or contested payouts over the years, including £54,000 in England in 2016 and a long dispute over more than £1 million in Northern Ireland in 2017. In July 2026 it reports an £8,000 England against Mexico World Cup bet refused on a "responsible gambling review".
On the American side, New Jersey regulators ordered repayment of more than $519,000 to underpaid customers in August 2024. These are allegations and rulings reported by a public encyclopedia, not our own test results. But a bettor should know them.
Our verdict
If you live in one of its states and place most bets in-play, bet365 earns a place on your phone. As the only book you use it is too narrow and too hedged in its bonuses. Keep records of every bet and screenshot your slips.
