OddsMonkey Review: What a UK Beginner Can Realistically Take From Matched Betting

OddsMonkey sells matched-betting software and offer lists to UK bettors from £39.99 a month. We priced the tiers, read the tool pages and weighed the profit claims against account-restriction risk.

out of 10

OddsMonkey is a well-stocked matched-betting toolkit and the Starter tier is all a beginner needs. The sign-up pile is finite and bookmakers do restrict accounts, so the realistic return is a one-off sum, not a salary. It suits a patient UK adult who enjoys admin; it does not suit anyone hoping for a monthly income.

What works

  • OddsMatcher covers 100+ bookmakers and 5 exchanges
  • Starter lists 50+ sign-up offers worth £779
  • 14-day money-back guarantee on Starter
  • Free calculators for lay stakes, dutching and each-way
  • Monthly plans cancel any time, no contract

What does not

  • Sign-up offers are a finite one-off pool
  • Bookmakers may limit or close winning accounts
  • Value-betting tools sit in the dearer Pro and Elite tiers
  • Trial length is not stated on the pages we read
  • Profit claims on the site are testimonial marketing

Start with the question a beginner should ask before paying anything: where does the money come from? In matched betting it comes from bookmaker sign-up offers and free bets, not from picking winners. OddsMonkey sells the software that makes claiming those offers quicker and less error-prone. It does not create the offers, and there are only so many of them.

What you are actually paying for

OddsMonkey describes matched betting as using free bets and promotions to lock in a profit whichever side wins. You back a result at a bookmaker, lay the same result at an exchange, and the two bets largely cancel out. The gain is the bookmaker's promotional value, less a small loss on the lay.

The explainer page: a What is matched betting? A beginners guide heading above the maker's description of turning free bets into profit.

The explainer is sensible and free to read. Our caution is the wording around it: the site speaks of making money from home, and its disclaimer admits there is no guarantee of specific results each month. Read the second statement, not the first.

The tiers and what each costs

The pricing section lists four plans. Starter is £39.99 a month or £249.99 a year. Advanced is £49.99 a month or £349.99 a year. Pro is £149.99 a month or £999 a year. Elite is £3,000 a year and only sold annually. The annual saving is quoted as 42 to 48 percent against paying monthly.

Starter carries the support team, 50-plus sign-up offers worth £779, 60-plus weekly offers, customisable alerts, 0 percent commission deals and the matched betting tools. Advanced adds a casino section and the BOG Matcher and Price Boost Matcher. Pro brings the 2UP EV tool, Extra Place EV and Lucky Finder EV. Elite adds Edge Finder, Golf Master and Steam Chaser.

For a first-timer the arithmetic is simple. Starter pays for itself only if the sign-up offers it points you at return well over one month's fee. A refund promise of 100 percent within 14 days is listed against Starter, and every plan is described as cancellable at any time with no contract. A free trial is advertised too, but the pages we read gave no length for it, so ask before you rely on it.

The tools

The centrepiece is the OddsMatcher, which the features page says searches more than 100 bookmakers and 5 betting exchanges for the best back-and-lay pairing. Around it sit a racing matcher, an acca finder and builder, an extra place matcher and a dutch matcher, plus a profit tracker that accepts manual entries.

The calculators are the piece you can test without paying. The free matched betting calculator takes your back stake, back odds and lay odds and returns the lay stake and liability. Getting that sum wrong is the classic beginner error, and a calculator removes it.

The calculator page: a Matched Betting Calculator heading with an explanation of covering all outcomes of a bet.

The site also lists calculators for dutching, each-way, Lucky 15 and Yankee bets, and an odds converter.

Value betting sits higher up the ladder

Matched betting uses offers. Value betting is different: it looks for prices that are better than their true probability and is a long-run game, with swings. OddsMonkey's value-betting page frames positive EV as the way smart bettors find edges.

We would keep that firmly away from a beginner. The relevant tools sit in Pro at £149.99 a month and Elite at £3,000 a year, and a positive-EV bet still loses often. If your aim is only the starter offers, you never need to go there.

The honest ceiling on earnings

The site cites members making in excess of £1,000 a month, and a banner points to £779 in sign-up offers. Both are real statements from the maker, and neither is a forecast for you. Each welcome offer can normally be claimed once per person, so the starter pile is a one-time harvest. After it runs out, you rely on weekly reloads, which are smaller.

Account risk is the bigger issue. Bookmakers can limit stakes or close accounts they judge to be taking offers without genuine betting patterns. That does not make the activity unlawful, but it does mean a profitable account can become a restricted one. Treat any mistakes in stake or odds as a real loss: matched betting cancels risk on paper, not in practice.

Who should buy it

Take Starter if you are a UK adult who can follow a checklist, keep records and stay calm when a bet is voided. Use the refund window as your test: work through the first few offers and see whether the tool saves more time than the fee costs. Skip Advanced and above until you know why you want them.

Do not buy it for steady income, and do not buy it if you find betting enjoyable in itself, because the method wants you to stake without caring who wins. If gambling is already a problem, stay away from it entirely. Players must be 18 or over, and free support is available from GambleAware.
