Ladbrokes Review: The App, the 1-2-Free Game and How Much Separates It From Coral

Ladbrokes is Entain's high-street name online, with a well-organised app and a free score-prediction game. We read its help centre and independent tests to see what is distinct, what is shared with Coral and where the rules bite.

out of 10

Ladbrokes is a competent, familiar UK bookmaker with a tidy app and one genuinely free hook in 1-2-Free. The prize is mostly small free bets, and the top prize is a long shot, so treat it as a weekly habit, not a reason to join. Against Coral, the difference is largely brand, offers and one exclusive game. Fine for a casual football bettor who wants a mainstream app. Not a place to hunt for the best price.

What works

  • 1-2-Free is free to play, with free bets for one or two correct scores
  • App is well organised, with Quick Bet and offers on the home screen
  • Live streaming on selected events, viewable full-screen while betting
  • Help centre is thorough on cash out, bet types and settlement
  • Cash out covers singles and multiples, pre-match and in-play, up to £50,000

What does not

  • Top 1-2-Free prize needs three exact scores, so most weeks pay nothing
  • Cash out is not offered on every market, and the button greys out without warning
  • The app has no search function, so you browse by sport or menu
  • Football dominates the home screen, which crowds out other sports
  • Little here separates it from Coral beyond offers and a few exclusive games

Ladbrokes has been on British high streets for generations, and its online arm carries the same plain, mainstream manner. The product question is narrower than the brand suggests: is the app good enough to choose, is the free game worth opening on a Friday, and does any of it differ from Coral, the other name Entain runs on the same platform family?

We could not open the sportsbook itself from our test machine, which blocked the official page, so this review rests on Ladbrokes' help centre, which we captured, and on independent app tests. We say where each fact comes from.

The free game is the distinct part

1-2-Free is a free-to-play football prediction game. Each week Ladbrokes picks three popular matches, and you call the score of each. Sports Mole's test describes the prizes as a £1 free bet for one correct score, a £5 free bet for two, and £100 for all three, plus a season-long prize of £25,000 for the first player to reach 20 correct scores across a Premier League campaign.

Independent sources do not agree. The App Store listing describes similar tiers, while another review quotes a share of a £10,000 cash prize for three and a £2 Bet Builder free bet for two. Prizes of this kind are promotional terms, and they change. Read the current rules in the app.

What does not change is the arithmetic. Predicting an exact score is hard, and three of them is rarer still, so the £100 line is a lottery ticket. The £1 and £5 free bets are the realistic outcome, and a free bet is worth less than its face value because the stake is not returned. One player quoted by Gambling.com says the game keeps them returning "in the hope of winning that £100 prize." That is the game's real function: a reason to open the app weekly.

The app, as tested by others

Sports Mole rates the Ladbrokes app 4.5 out of 5 on the App Store and 4 out of 5 on Google Play, and counts 36 sports plus virtuals, TV specials, politics and the Lotto. It praises smooth navigation, Quick Bet, offers on the home screen and live streaming on selected events, which you can watch full-screen in landscape while you bet.

Its criticisms are equally specific. Football dominates the home screen. The five-a-side game loads slowly. And the FAQ says there is no search function: you browse the sports list or open the menu. For a bettor who knows exactly what they want, that is a small, daily irritation.

Cash out, in the rules' own words

The help centre's cash out page is the clearest part of the product. It says Cash Out is available to customers aged 18 or over betting online or on mobile in pounds or euros, with accounts registered in the UK or Republic of Ireland. It covers singles and multiples, pre-match and in-play, but only where every selection is in an eligible market.

It is also candid about when the button fails. Cash out is unavailable if a market in your bet is suspended or ineligible, if the value would be £0, or if your accumulator has more than 20 selections (14 for a bet builder). Bets that qualify for other offers or enhanced price specials cannot be cashed out. The maximum is £50,000 per bet including stake, and a successful full cash out settles the bet at once and is final. The page adds that Ladbrokes may decline to offer it at any time, "never guaranteed."

That last line matters more than the 50,000 figure. A cash out offer is a price the bookmaker sets, and it carries a margin like any other price.

Offers and paying out

Sports Mole headlines a welcome offer of "Bet £5, get £30 in free bets", which its terms unpack as a first £5 bet within 14 days at minimum odds of 1/2, unlocking six £5 free bets valid for seven days, stakes not returned. The same review elsewhere mentions a £20 bonus, so the figure is in doubt. Verify the current offer on the day.

For payments, the help centre's withdrawal page is short: log in, choose Withdraw, pick an option, follow the steps, and you receive an email with a confirmation number. Timeframes and limits sit on linked pages that we did not read in full, so we cannot quote processing times. The help centre keeps deposit methods and withdrawal steps on separate pages, and both are worth reading before your first deposit.

Is it just Coral?

Both brands belong to Entain, and the structure is the same: a mainstream app, a welcome offer, boosts, a casino side. We found nothing in the sources to say the two share a prediction game, and nothing to prove they do not. The practical differences we can support are the exclusive 1-2-Free game and the offer on the day. If you already hold a Coral account, the reason to add Ladbrokes is the free game and the second welcome offer, not a better price.

That is the honest summary on prices as well: nothing we found suggests Ladbrokes beats the best bookmakers on odds. A comparison site will show you where the price sits for your bet.

Who it suits

Ladbrokes suits a casual football bettor who wants a well-organised app, will play a free game for its own sake, and treats offers as a modest extra. It does not suit a price-sensitive bettor, anyone who needs search and speed, or anyone expecting 1-2-Free to pay.
