Caesars Sportsbook Review: Rewards Credits and a Boost-Heavy App, Judged Against the Market Leaders

Caesars Sportsbook pairs a betting app with the Caesars Rewards program. We looked at the parlay protections, the rewards screens, the sign-up terms and how reviewers rate its feature set.

out of 10

Caesars Sportsbook makes most sense for bettors who already stay, eat or play at Caesars properties, because the rewards link is the one thing rivals cannot copy. As a pure betting app it has solid parlay protections and a long state list, yet independent reviewers score its app features below its rivals. A fine second account, and a hard sell as a first one.

What works

  • Caesars Rewards credits convert to Bonus Bets, hotel stays, dining and entertainment
  • Flex Your Parlay keeps a wager alive when one leg misses
  • Odds boosts and a Bet Reset token give existing users recurring promotions
  • Live in more than 20 states plus Washington, DC and Puerto Rico
  • The iOS app holds a 4.7 average from over 116,000 ratings

What does not

  • RotoWire's app-features score of 2.84 out of 5 was the lowest of its categories
  • Some markets are reported to have a shorter shelf life than at competitors
  • The iOS app is a 550 MB download, large for a betting app
  • Bet Reset and similar tokens return Bonus Bets, not cash
  • Full benefits depend on you wanting casino-resort rewards

Most US sportsbooks fight for the same bettor with the same weapon: a big welcome bonus. Caesars tries something different. Its pitch is that your wagers also count toward a loyalty program that reaches into hotels, restaurants and shows. That is a real point of difference, so we judged the app on two questions: does the rewards link carry the product, and what is left when you set it aside?

What you are actually signing up to

Caesars Sportsbook is run by Computerized Bookmaking Systems, Inc., part of Caesars Entertainment. The brand grew out of Caesars' April 2021 purchase of the British bookmaker William Hill for $3.7 billion, according to the company's Wikipedia history. You must be 21 or older and physically present in a live state. The app listing names Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming, Washington, DC and Puerto Rico. Casino games are offered only in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia.

The official page would not render in our automated browser, so the pictures below come from Caesars' own App Store listing.

The protections that matter

Flex Your Parlay is applied to an eligible wager so that the bet stays alive even if one leg misses. Like every such feature, it is a product with a price: the legs you can pick and the odds you get on them are set by the book, and the protection is not free. Compare the price of a protected parlay with the unprotected one before you accept it.

Bet Reset works differently. You apply a token to a qualifying wager, and if it loses you receive a Bonus Bet equal to your wager, up to a maximum refund. Bonus Bets pay winnings only, so a $50 reset is worth less than $50 of cash. The app also advertises injury protection if a player exits early, with terms noted on the promotional screen.

The new-user offer shown in the listing is "Bet $1, double your winnings on your next 10 wagers", with a $25 maximum bet per boost. That is a modest cap, so it is a trial of the product more than a windfall.

The rewards link, tested against the rest

This is the one feature a standalone sportsbook cannot match. Every eligible wager earns Caesars Rewards Credits, redeemable for Bonus Bets, hotel stays, dining, shopping and live entertainment, according to the app description. The app's rewards screen shows two counters: Tier Credits, which set your status level, and Reward Credits, which you spend. The sample screen reads 18,234 Tier Credits and 26,879 Reward Credits.

Be honest about what that is. Loyalty credits are a rebate on spending, and the return per dollar staked is small. If you never visit a Caesars property, the main use of the credits is Bonus Bets, and those carry the same limits as any other bonus. If you do stay at Caesars resorts, the credits turn into hotel and dining value that you would otherwise have paid cash for. The link is a benefit for that person and little more for everyone else.

Where the app trails

RotoWire, a promotion-driven site, scores the book by category. Functionality came out strongest at 3.86 out of 5 on one page, user experience at 3.61 and promos at 3.25, with an overall 3.43. App features scored lowest, 2.84. Reviewers said the odds-boost feature and the rewards program were strengths, but that some markets last for a shorter time than at competitors, and one said that Caesars needs "something innovative" to gain share.

We would hold those scores loosely, since RotoWire earns from sign-ups and dated its pages inconsistently. Still, they match the pattern we expect: Caesars is competent and does not lead on features. The shipped iOS app, at 551 MB, is also a heavy install, though customers rate it 4.7 from 116,453 ratings.

Who it suits

Pick Caesars if you already earn Caesars Rewards status, or plan to, and want your betting to count toward it. Pick it as a second account if you want its boosts and parlay tokens alongside a main book with better prices.

Skip it if the sportsbook is the whole point. A bettor who wants the broadest prop menu, the fastest app and the sharpest prices should check the larger books first and treat Caesars as an extra.

Responsible gambling

You must be 21 or older, and sports betting involves a house margin on every price, so it is not a way to make money. Set deposit limits, treat Bonus Bets and rewards as marketing, not as income, and use the app's controls if play stops being fun. In the US, the 1-800-GAMBLER line offers help, and each state lists its own service.
