bet365 Review: Low Margins and Deep Markets, With a Limiting Reputation

bet365 has the lowest average edge in Action Network's seven-book pricing study and streams live events. Its reputation for limiting winners is the catch.

out of 10

The best-priced mainstream book in the one independent margin study we found, with deep live markets and streaming. Strong for bettors who value prices and in-play depth. Weak for anyone expecting to win steadily, because the limiting reputation is strong. The dense app also frustrates some users.

What works

  • Lowest overall average edge (4.83%) of seven books in Action Network's study
  • Cheapest in the sample for NFL, MLB and college basketball closing odds
  • Live streaming for eligible events plus Match Live and Cash Out
  • Reported US withdrawals in one to four hours, instant to Apple Pay

What does not

  • Strong reputation among review sites for limiting stakes on winning accounts
  • Only 18 US states, fewer than DraftKings or FanDuel
  • Dense interface and app reviews citing geolocation and login problems
  • Cash Out and boosts vary by event and account and can misbehave

Ask a seasoned bettor which bookmaker has the most to bet on and the answer is usually bet365. Ask which one limits winners fastest and the answer is often the same name. Both reputations deserve a hard look, because they pull in opposite directions: the first says open an account, the second says do not expect to keep it if you are good.

A caveat on evidence. bet365 blocked our automated capture of most of its own pages (help, in-play and the sportsbook sub-pages returned errors), so what follows leans on the homepage, the two App Store listings, and Action Network's published pricing study. Where a claim comes from a review site rather than from bet365, we say so.

The price of a bet

This is where bet365 earns its standing. Action Network measured the closing odds of seven US books between September 2023 and June 2024 and put bet365's average edge at 4.83%, the lowest overall. Broken down, that was 4.45% in the NFL, 4.36% in MLB and 4.62% in college basketball, each the cheapest in the sample. DraftKings led the NBA and college football. On the Bears at Seahawks moneyline Action checked, the implied margin was about 4.0%.

The gaps are small, one or two tenths of a point on most sports, but baseball is the exception: against a book at 5.18% in MLB, a 4.36% edge is a visible saving over a season of daily bets. Margins are averages, not guarantees for a given match, and bet365 carries the same heavy hold as everyone else on same-game parlays.

Depth and the in-play board

The App Store description for the US app claims more than 120 million customers and lists boosts (Super Boosts and Profit Boosts), same-game parlays and Early Payout deals on football. For breadth, the UK version is the better guide: its store listing leads with football and horse racing, and bet365 uses its own artwork to claim the most-downloaded sports betting app in the UK for January to May 2026, citing AppTweak data. That is the maker's claim and we have no way to audit it.

Action Network confirms live streaming for eligible competitions in the US app, plus a Match Live feature. Cash Out lets you settle a bet early at the amount offered, though recent app reviews say it sometimes misbehaves. We could not test streaming rights match by match, and they differ by country, so check the specific event before relying on it.

Money in, money out

Action Network reports withdrawals of one to four hours to cards, online banking, PayPal and Venmo in the US (minimum $10), instant to Apple Pay, and instant at a casino cage with a $1 minimum. Its own debit withdrawal arrived in an hour or two. UK review sites quote slower and more varied times, from about 24 hours for e-wallets to several days for bank transfer, which says more about banks than about bet365. Treat all of these as reported figures, not ours.

The US welcome offer is a $10 bet for $200 in bonus bets in 15 of its 18 states, $150 in Illinois, Tennessee and West Virginia. Bonus bets are non-withdrawable. The mechanics matter more than the headline: a bonus bet pays winnings, not the stake.

The question of limits

No bookmaker publishes how it decides who gets restricted, and bet365 is no exception. Review sites repeatedly describe stake limits arriving on accounts that win steadily on narrow markets, and one UK comparison lists it as a drawback. Action Network does not mention limits at all. Our position: a recreational bettor who spreads bets across leagues is unlikely to notice, and a bettor who beats closing lines for a living should assume that any account here is on borrowed time. That is true at most bookmakers, but bet365's reputation on this point is stronger than most.

What irritates

The interface is dense. Action Network calls it denser than US-first apps, and recent app reviews cite geolocation problems, instability, login trouble and Cash Out glitches. US coverage is 18 states, fewer than DraftKings or FanDuel. Boosts and existing-customer promotions vary by event and account.

Who it suits

bet365 suits bettors who care most about price, who want streaming alongside live markets, and who will take the denser layout for the sake of it. It suits UK football and racing punters, and US bettors in its 18 states. It suits less well anyone planning to bet in a way that wins reliably, since the limiting reputation is real enough to price in.

Gambling carries a negative expected return, and no bookmaker changes that. Set deposit and time limits before you start, never chase losses, and use GamStop or GamCare (0808 8020 133) in the UK, or 1-800-GAMBLER in the US, if betting stops being a leisure spend. 18+ in the UK, 21+ in most US states.
