AmWager Review: A Rebate Ladder From 0.25% to 1.25%, and No Kentucky Derby

AmWager pays rewards from 4 to 20 points per dollar, converted at 1,600 to the dollar, plus occasional 0% takeout days. We worked out what that returns and where the horse racing app falls short.

out of 10

AmWager's published rewards ladder returns about 0.25% at the base level and about 0.94% on straight bets or 1.25% on exotics at $20,000 a month, and its 0% takeout days can be worth more. That suits high-volume exotics players with room to chase promotions. It does not suit casual bettors, Kentucky Derby players, or anyone wanting a native app.

What works

  • Six published reward tiers; top step returns about 1.25% on exotics
  • 0% takeout promotions, such as Woodbine on 27 June 2026
  • Roughly 500 tracks and 1,000+ races a day, per BettingUSA
  • Live video and replays included on the site
  • ACH withdrawals in 1 to 3 business days, per BettingUSA

What does not

  • Base tier returns only a quarter of one percent
  • No Kentucky Derby: no Churchill Downs agreement
  • No native app; a progressive web app installed from the site
  • No live chat; phone support has limited hours
  • Idaho excluded from rewards; state lists in sources conflict

Rebates are the argument for leaving a big racing app, so we did the sums first. AmWager publishes a six-step rewards table, and the arithmetic is short. The base level pays 4 points per dollar on every bet, points convert to wagering credit at 1,600 to the dollar, and 4 divided by 1,600 is a quarter of one percent. That is the floor. The question for a serious horseplayer is how fast the ladder climbs, and what else AmWager gives for the move.

A note on method. We read AmWager's published pages, a BettingUSA review and a race-day report from Past the Wire. We did not fund an account or place a wager, so we say nothing about our own payout speed.

What the rebate ladder pays

The table on AmWager's rewards page sets monthly wagering minimums against points per dollar, first for straight bets, then for exotics. "WPS" means win, place and show; everything else, from exactas to Pick 4s, counts as an exotic. The six steps run as follows.

  • Under $1,000 a month: 4 points per $1 on straight bets, 4 on exotics.

  • From $1,000: 5 and 5.

  • From $2,500: 6 and 6.

  • From $5,000: 8 and 8.

  • From $10,000: 10 and 13.

  • From $20,000: 15 and 20.

Dividing by 1,600, the top published step returns about 0.94% on straight bets and 1.25% on exotics. A player at $10,000 a month gets 0.63% on straight bets and about 0.81% on exotics. Credit arrives each morning, and any unused promotional credit expires after 30 days. Idaho players are excluded, and accounts created before 2023 stay on older rates unless they ask to move.

BettingUSA lists a higher "$100,000 a month" step at 25 and 40 points. AmWager's own table stops at $20,000, so we used the site and treat the other figure as out of date.

Those rates are modest on their own. What changes the sum is the ceiling: AmWager also says a "player concierge" program, with dedicated customer service and personalised offers, exists for high-volume players, though it gives no threshold. If you play big volume, ask what you would be offered before you move, and ask your current app for its tiers in writing. We did not find a rebate schedule from TwinSpires or FanDuel Racing that we could cite, so we make no claim about which pays more.

Takeout promotions are the better lever

The more interesting offer is the 0% takeout day. Past the Wire reported one on the Woodbine card on 27 June 2026: winning bets in every pool except Show were first paid at the track's tote price, and AmWager then recalculated as if takeout had been zero and paid the difference as a bonus the next day. Its examples were a $2 win paying $11.80 at the tote and $14.21 after the top-up, and a $1 trifecta rising from $365.20 to $486.93. Bonuses were capped at $200 per account.

For a player who bets exotics, that is worth more than a month of base rebate on that card. The catch is the cap and the single day, so it works as an occasional bonus and not a business model.

The first deposit and the money moving

The home page offers a $50 first-deposit match, and BettingUSA describes it as 100% up to $50, with a 1x playthrough within 30 days. Show bets, cancelled bets and refunds do not count toward it, and the bonus itself is not withdrawable though winnings from it are.

BettingUSA lists Visa, Mastercard, ACH, Bitcoin, VIP Preferred and wire for deposits. Withdrawals by ACH take one to three business days and need an earlier $25 deposit, checks take up to five business days plus shipping, and a wire carries a $25 fee below $5,000. There is no native app, only a progressive web app installed from the site. Support is email and phone with no live chat, and the phone desk is not staffed late.

What it does not have

AmWager does not carry the Kentucky Derby, according to BettingUSA, because it has no Churchill Downs agreement. For a player whose year centres on Churchill, that alone ends the discussion. The same source counts roughly 500 tracks and more than 1,000 races a day, and says live video covers almost all of them. AmWager's home page promises free streaming on all races and replays and pool updates "up to 60 times faster" than competitors. That is its marketing claim, and we could not test it.

State availability is murky: the BettingUSA page lists 26 states in one place and 29 in another, Past the Wire says 30, and the site excludes Idaho. Check the state list on the sign-up page before assuming you can open an account.

Who should move

AmWager suits a high-volume exotics player who can use takeout days and a steady rebate, and who does not need Derby-day access. It does not suit someone who bets a few hundred dollars a month: at the base tier you receive a quarter of a percent. And it does not suit anyone who wants an app-store download.

Betting on racing loses money for most people. Set a monthly limit before you start, and if it stops being fun, call 1-800-MY-RESET. You must be 21 or over.
