Sleeper ReviewA Strong Fantasy App With a Narrower Pick'em Offer

Sleeper built its name on fantasy football leagues, then added fixed-payout Picks. We read the terms, limits and state coverage to see whether the pick'em side is as good as the league app.

Verdict: Sleeper is the best-liked fantasy league app of its kind, and the Picks product is a decent add-on rather than a leader. Reviewers report a narrower menu and a larger house edge than PrizePicks or Underdog, so the app suits fantasy fans more than dedicated pick'em players.

Best for: Fantasy football players who want occasional Picks entries

Visit site

Most people who know Sleeper know it as the place their fantasy football league lives. The pick'em product, called Picks, is the newer thing, and the useful question is whether a league app can compete with specialists. On the evidence we gathered, it holds its own but does not lead.

This review is built from Sleeper's public pages, its App Store listing and third-party assessments. We did not place Picks entries ourselves, and there is no way to see the entry screens without a funded account in an eligible state, so every Picks figure carries its source.

The league app is the real product

Sleeper's fantasy football page promises free leagues and says the app is trusted by more than 13 million players. That is Sleeper's own claim. The App Store backs the popularity: on 7 November 2026 the US store showed 4.73 out of 5 from 296,937 ratings, a very large sample.

The navigation shows how the company thinks about itself. Under Explore Games sit Fantasy Football, Chopped Leagues, Football Survivor and Football Pick'em. Leagues are the front door, and the paid contests sit alongside. If you want a free league with friends and nothing else, Sleeper does that well, which is why we rate the company higher than the pick'em product alone would deserve.

How Picks works

BettingUSA describes Picks as fixed-payout entries: choose two or more athletes, choose an entry fee, and each pick carries a multiplier that compounds as you add picks, with payouts up to 100 times the stake. There are two structures. Max is all-or-nothing, so one miss pays nothing. Combo has a lower top payout but can pay something on an imperfect slate. Sports include the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, college football and basketball and the WNBA.

The honest maths is the same as for any pick'em. If each pick is a true 50/50, a five-pick all-or-nothing slate hits one time in 32. If the top payout is below 32x, the product has a built-in edge for the house, and every added pick widens it. A 100x maximum sounds large, but it requires a long slate and perfect results.

Compare n' Bet, a comparison site, says Sleeper's multipliers are similar to PrizePicks and Underdog but with a narrower projection menu and a larger house edge. That is an affiliate-adjacent claim and we cannot verify it from the outside, so weigh it accordingly. Our review of PrizePicks covers the larger rival.

Limits, money and states

BettingUSA lists deposit methods including PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, bank transfer, Venmo and Discover. Deposits are capped at $1,000 a day (lower in Massachusetts and Tennessee, per that review), and deposits stop once the balance passes $10,000. Withdrawals are limited to $1,000 per transaction and $5,000 a day. Processing times were not stated in the sources we found.

Availability is the messy part. BettingUSA gives 21 states plus Washington DC for Picks. Sportsbetting Dime, last checked in July 2026, lists 30 states plus DC. Saturday Down South says 28. Pick'em contests also sit in a legal gray zone in some places, and states change their position often. Check the app's own eligibility screen, not a blog.

Sleeper also runs a Daily Draft product, where BettingUSA says buy-ins range from $1 to $1,000, and a head-to-head variant called PicksVS that it lists in only six states (Alabama, Florida, Kansas, Massachusetts, West Virginia and Wyoming). The page's own state grid contradicts its Daily Draft list for Colorado and Kentucky, a reminder that availability data on third-party sites goes stale quickly.

Annoyances reviewers report

BettingUSA notes there is no phone support, only email and live chat. Some users, especially on Android, report bugs such as freezing during drafts and geolocation errors. Picks exist only in the mobile app, and the website barely mentions them, which confuses people who start on a desktop. The app is also described as complicated for beginners.

Who should use it

Use Sleeper if you already play fantasy there and want an occasional Picks entry on the same login. Do not treat it as your main pick'em platform if you want the broadest projection menu and the best multipliers, since reviewers place it behind the specialists.

Verdict

Sleeper earns a 6.3. The league app is excellent and free, and Picks is competent. But the pick'em side is narrower and, per the comparison we found, costs more than the leaders. Pick'em is gambling-style entertainment with a house edge, it carries risk and it is not a way to make money. Set a deposit limit before your first entry.

  • Picks payouts up to 100x with Max and Combo structures

  • No phone support, only email and live chat
  • State availability is patchy, and sources disagree on the count
