Coral ReviewFree Games and Racing Guarantees, Against Winner Restriction Complaints

Coral offers free-to-play prediction games, Best Odds Guaranteed on UK and Irish racing and 1,800 shops. We set those against a poor Trustpilot score and users' reports of limits after winning.

Verdict: Coral is a sound second account for racing bettors: Best Odds Guaranteed is automatic, the free games cost nothing to enter and the app is well rated. It is a poor choice if you expect to win steadily, because users report stake limits and bans, and the welcome offer demands a Visa or Mastercard deposit.

Best for: UK racing and snooker bettors who value free games and shops

Coral has been taking bets since Joe Coral set up the business in 1926, and it now belongs to Entain alongside Ladbrokes. Its pitch to a UK bettor who already holds several accounts is specific: free games that cost nothing to enter, a racing price guarantee and a shop on most high streets. We looked at whether that justifies adding yet another bookmaker, and whether the downsides, which are real, outweigh it.

Betting carries risk, free games included, and none of it is a dependable way to make money.

The free games are the real differentiator

Football Super Series asks you to pick a starting fixture and then predict the results of four consecutive matches. Sportsmole reports correct entries share up to £100 cash, with 20 Coral Coins for taking part, and no qualifying bet is needed. Racing Super Series follows the same free-entry idea on selected racedays. One roundup puts its top prize at £25,000 for picking placed horses, though we could not confirm that figure from a primary page.

Free entries are not charity. They bring you into the app daily, where the offers and the betting sit. Still, a game that costs nothing and occasionally pays cash is a better hook than most. If you enjoy prediction games, this is a reason to open the account.

Best Odds Guaranteed is the racing case

The guarantee covers all UK and Irish racing from 8am on the day, with no opt-in. If the starting price beats the price you took, you get the difference as cash after settlement. For anyone who bets early and often on horses, that removes the main reason to hold out for a better price elsewhere. It does not make Coral's early prices sharp, and it does nothing for football.

OLBG describes the odds as very competitive in the editorial text, while several users disagree: one says the prices never appear to offer competitive value. OLBG also credits Coral with 38 sports, the strongest snooker coverage among UK bookmakers and good greyhound markets.

The welcome offer, with its catch

Sportsmole lists Bet £5, Get £30 in free bets for new UK and Irish customers. The first bet must be at least £5 at minimum odds of 1/2 and placed within 14 days of registering. You receive six £5 free bets valid for 7 days, and stakes are not returned. The catch: only Visa or Mastercard deposits qualify. Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, prepaid cards and some debit cards do not. Racing Post has listed a different offer, £50 in free bets for a £10 bet, so confirm the live version.

Free bets that do not return the stake are worth less than their face value. Six £5 bets at average odds are worth well under £30; a common rule of thumb values stake-not-returned free bets at roughly 70% of face value. Take the offer if you want to test the app, not as a profit plan.

Cash in and out

Withdrawal speed is good by UK standards. Sportsmole reports PayPal, Skrill and Neteller in 2 to 6 hours, Visa and Mastercard in 1 to 5 business days, Apple Pay in 1 to 3 days and bank transfer in 2 to 4 days, with no fees on any method. Visa Fast Funds, where supported, clears within 4 hours. Shops add a different route: the Coral Connect card allows cash deposits at the counter and in-shop withdrawals of online winnings.

The iOS app scores 4.7 from more than 53,500 ratings and Android 4.3 from over 10,600. It includes live streaming, cash out and quick bet.

What worries us

This is where the review turns critical. On OLBG, at least five user reviews describe restrictions or limits after winning or even on small stakes. One quotes the reason given as a decision by the trading team. Another says they were barred from the sportsbook after three winning bets while the casino stayed open. These are reader reports on a comparison site, not findings, but the pattern matches what many UK bookmakers do to profitable accounts. Coral may also ask for more ID once deposits or stakes rise quickly.

Trustpilot is harsher still: Sportsmole cites 1.2 out of 5 from over 3,200 reviews. Contact options are reported as hard to find on the site, though live chat is advertised around the clock. And Entain paid a £17 million UK Gambling Commission penalty in 2022 over anti-money-laundering and social responsibility failures.

Verdict

Coral suits a casual racing punter who wants an easy app, a price guarantee and games to play for nothing. It does not suit anyone planning to win consistently, since the evidence says winning accounts get limited. Open it, enjoy the free games, and expect to use it with modest stakes. Keep your expectations plain and your deposits small.
