Whether that is worth anything depends on one thing most reviews skip: will you ever spend those points in a building? We went through the app listing, the rewards rules and the complaints to put a value on the link.

The company behind the app

BetMGM is a joint venture between MGM Resorts and the UK group Entain. Wikipedia's entry covers the history and the MGM properties that feed the brand (Wikipedia).

The ownership matters for one reason: the resorts are where rewards get spent. Rival sportsbooks run points schemes that pay out in bonus bets or merchandise. BetMGM can pay in a hotel room, if you happen to be near one.

How MGM Rewards works

You move up four named tiers by earning tier credits: Sapphire at the start, Pearl at 20,000 credits, Gold at 75,000 and Platinum at 200,000, with the top tier, NOIR, by invitation. Those thresholds are consistent across the sources we read. One guide says higher tiers add points bonuses of 10%, 20% and 30%, but that comes from a low-quality site and we could not confirm it from the program's own terms.

We could not find a reliable sportsbook-specific earn rate either. One review says 1 tier credit per $20 wagered, another says credits depend on length of play and bet size. If BetMGM publishes the rate in the app, that is the figure to use; if it does not, treat the scheme as a bonus, not a reason to pick the book.

The honest value calculation is simple. Suppose you wager $5,000 over a season and earn points worth a small fraction of one percent. That is a coffee, not a rebate. The Rewards link only matters if you already visit MGM properties several times a year and move up to a tier with real perks. For a bettor who has never stayed at a casino resort, it is decoration.

The app and the product

The App Store lists live betting, same game parlays, player props, futures, alternate lines and cash out, with a rating of 4.8 from about 261,000 reviews. It needs iOS 18 or later and weighs about 136 MB. The listing names Arizona, Colorado, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania among about 25 jurisdictions where it operates, so the footprint is wide.

On price we have no hold figures to hand you. BetMGM is a mainstream book with standard -110 sides on many spreads, which means a margin near 4.5% on those two-way markets, and no credible independent test has shown it consistently shading better than FanDuel or DraftKings. Use a line-shopping tool, and compare prices before every bet.

What the unhappy reviews say

The ratings page shows the usual split between happy and angry customers.

Reading the two top complaints, one is about promotional email volume and the other is a bad experience that the reviewer links to glitches. Neither is a verdict on fairness, and a single one-star review should not decide anything. A different reviewer says bets placed before July 2023 vanished from history after an update, and a scroll position bug is reported. These are app-quality issues, not signs of dishonest pricing.

Withdrawal timing is where sources disagree most. BetMGM's own terms summary points to 3 to 5 business days and warns of extra review, while others report 24 to 72 hours. Our advice is to expect the slower end for your first withdrawal and to withdraw by the same method you deposited with.

The developer page lists a long run of branded apps: casino, a horse racing app aimed at bettors in Florida, Louisiana and Ohio, and regional casino apps.

That breadth is a strength for someone who bets on sport, plays casino and wagers on racing under one account. It also explains the heavy marketing.

Who should use it

• Yes: people who travel to MGM properties and want their betting to count toward status.

• Maybe: anyone who wants a polished, widely available second app for props and same game parlays.

• No: anyone choosing mainly on price, because nothing we found shows BetMGM beating the best-priced rival on a regular basis.
