Action Network ReviewIs PRO Worth $120 a Year or Is Free Enough?
Action Network's free odds screens and bet tracker do most of what a bettor needs. We priced the PRO plans, listed what they add and looked for independent proof they pay off.

Verdict: A strong free odds and bet-tracking app. PRO adds sharp-action reports, projections and alerts at $119.99 a year, but we found no independent return-on-investment data. Take the free tier first and buy only the annual plan if you use the alerts weekly.
Best for: Line shoppers who track bets and bet most weeks
Visit siteAction Network sells two things under one logo. The free half is a live odds screen, a bet tracker and a news feed. The paid half, PRO, is a stack of betting data. Our job was to decide whether the second half earns its fee or whether a bettor can stop at the first. We priced the plans, read what PRO contains and looked for independent proof that it makes money. That last part is where the trouble starts.
The free product is better than most paid ones
The odds screens are the core. Each league has a page of lines from multiple books, so you see the best number before you bet. That matters because line shopping is the one tactic with a guaranteed return: getting -108 instead of -115 on the same side saves money on every wager, whatever the result.

Take the game on the homepage strip: the two sides listed there are +100 and -122, which convert to 50.0% and 54.9%, a total of about 105%. A book's margin shows up in that excess over 100%, and comparing books game by game is how you find the lower one. The free app also tracks your bets, which is the habit most bettors lack. Seeing your real record, including how often you bought a price worse than the closing number, is more useful than any projection.
What PRO adds
The PRO page lists: personal and custom bet tracking, a Sharp Action Report, betting and prop projections, PRO System picks, expert picks, live odds, bet and money percentages, line alerts and premium articles. Three prices are shown: $14.99 a week, $24.99 a month and $119.99 a year. The page shows no free trial.

Do the arithmetic. Twelve monthly payments cost $299.88, so the annual plan at $119.99 is 60% cheaper, about $10 a month. Weekly billing at $14.99 would reach about $780 over a year, so it is a trap for anyone who forgets to cancel. Whatever you choose, the annual plan is the only sane price. It still has to pay for itself: at $120 a year, a bettor staking $50 per bet needs to save or win back that sum, which is 2.4 average bets' worth of stakes, across a season. Gaining that from line alerts is realistic. Gaining it from projections is unproven.
The evidence problem
We found no independent test with a published win rate or return on investment for the PRO tools. The praise comes from Action's own pages, a RotoGrinders guide that calls the upgrade well worth the money for money percentages and props, and subscriber anecdotes such as "this app has paid for itself". That is marketing and testimony, not data. The system picks and projections are, by definition, signals that every other subscriber also sees, so any edge shrinks as the market moves toward them.
The sharp action and money-percentage figures are useful context. They tell you where tickets and dollars are going, and they can warn you off a popular side. They do not tell you who is right.

Complaints that matter
Trustpilot reviews are mixed. Many complaints are about marketing email volume and hard-to-find unsubscribe options, not about the data, and one reviewer calls the company a scam, which we did not see substantiated. Treat the email point as a practical warning: use a separate address.
A fair test before you pay
Run the free app for a full month and log every bet with the price you got and the price at kickoff. If most of your wagers beat the closing line already, PRO has little to teach you. If most do not, the alerts may help, and the tracker will show you whether they do.
Verdict
Install the free app. It is polished, it supports line shopping and it makes you track your bets. Buy PRO only if you will use the alerts and the sharp-action tools every week, and only on the annual plan, after you have logged your own results for a month and know your baseline. If you bet a few times a month, the subscription will cost more than it returns, and picks sold on a screen should never be mistaken for guaranteed advice.
Betting is risky, no tool removes the house edge, and most bettors lose over time. Set a budget, keep it, and use limits if play stops being fun. This review describes a product and is not personal financial advice.
