We pulled up Bitcoin's asset profile on Messari, compared the numbers against the free Basic tier's limits, then read through the fine print on a pricing page that looks very different from the one this site charged a year ago.
What an asset profile actually gives you
Search any of Messari's 40,000-plus covered assets and the page that loads is dense in a useful way. Bitcoin's profile surfaced live BTC metrics, an unlock schedule chart and price data down to the cent, all without a subscription wall blocking the view. For a reader trying to sanity-check a headline number before repeating it, having metrics, unlocks and fundraising history on one page beats piecing the same facts together from three separate sites. We ran the same check on Ethereum and a mid-cap layer-2 token, and both loaded a comparable depth of data, which suggests the coverage isn't limited to the handful of assets a marketing page would naturally showcase.
The pricing page changed underneath existing users

There is no announced middle tier planned to fill the gap; Messari's own FAQ frames the change as a deliberate simplification rather than a temporary pricing test, which means the mid-tier buyer this site used to serve is not coming back to a cheaper option soon.
