FXTM review: Advantage after the account range got smaller

FXTM discontinued its copy trading app in 2024, closed its UK entity in 2026 and now sells four retail accounts instead of the wider range it once ran. We opened a live Advantage account, checked its new $500 deposit floor and traded EUR/USD to see what the raw pricing actually costs.

Our verdict

FXTM's Advantage account still delivers what it advertises: a spread from 0.0 pips and a $7 round-turn commission that competes with the raw spread specialists it is priced against. What changed is the surrounding business. FXTM Invest closed in 2024, the UK entity shut down in 2026, and the Advantage account's own deposit floor has risen from the $200 widely quoted to $500 on FXTM's current page, so a trader comparing today's FXTM to reviews even a year old is looking at a narrower, pricier entry point than those reviews describe.

CFDs are complex instruments and carry a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Most retail accounts lose money.

FXTM's homepage headline 'Global trading that gives you more', promising access to more than 1,000 markets with competitive costs and fast execution

FXTM built its name on choice: a wide account menu, a dedicated copy trading app, and a UK entity for traders who wanted FCA-level oversight close to home. Most of that has changed. We opened a live Advantage account to find out what FXTM looks like now that the range has shrunk, and whether the pricing on its remaining flagship account still holds up.

The account list is shorter than it used to be

FXTM currently lists five retail accounts: Micro, Rewards, Rewards Plus, Advantage and Advantage Stocks. That is down from a broader lineup that used to include an Advantage Plus tier and other variations traders compared against each other. FXTM Invest, the broker's copy trading app that let clients follow strategy managers with published risk scores, was discontinued in 2024 with no direct successor inside the FXTM ecosystem. For a trader who joined FXTM specifically for that feature, there is now nothing to migrate to on the same platform.

The bigger structural change is regulatory. FXTM's UK operation closed during 2026, and the entity's former licence in that jurisdiction is no longer active. A trader who opened an account through the UK arm for that specific regulatory backing no longer has that option, and anyone signing up today lands with either the FSCA-regulated South African entity or the FSC-regulated Mauritius entity depending on residency.

What Advantage costs now, and what changed

The Advantage account is the one FXTM still markets as its precision option: spreads from 0.0 pips on forex, a $3.50 per lot per side commission that works out to $7 round turn, and leverage up to 1:3000 on a floating basis. Those numbers are genuinely competitive against other raw spread brokers charging in the same range. Our own EUR/USD fills during testing landed close to the advertised floor during the London session, and the commission matched what the account page states with no hidden add-on.

What has moved is the deposit floor. FXTM's own current page for Advantage lists a $500 minimum, a jump from the $200 figure that still circulates across many independent review sites written before the change. That is not a small difference: it roughly triples the capital needed to open the account FXTM positions as its best pricing tier, and a trader budgeting from an older review would arrive expecting to fund the account at less than half of what FXTM now actually asks for.

Two platforms, unchanged

MT4 and MT5 remain fully supported, alongside FXTM's own web and mobile app for account management and simpler order types. We ran the Advantage account through MT5 for the bulk of our testing and had no issues connecting, checking positions or withdrawing a small test amount, a process that completed within FXTM's stated timeframe.

Our verdict

FXTM's core pricing on Advantage still competes on cost, and that part of the broker has not gotten worse. What a returning or prospective trader needs to know is that the surrounding business has narrowed: no more copy trading app, no UK entity, and a deposit floor that has grown well past what most existing reviews still quote. None of that makes FXTM a bad broker, but it does make the FXTM of today a different, smaller proposition than the one many comparison sites still describe.

A trader outside the UK who can meet the $500 floor and wants raw MT4 or MT5 pricing at 1:3000 leverage gets a genuinely competitive account here. A trader who specifically wanted FXTM Invest's copy trading feature, or who is UK-based and needs that entity's oversight, should look elsewhere, because both of those reasons to choose FXTM no longer apply.

We would also flag the smaller accounts to anyone tempted to start there instead of saving for Advantage. Micro exists for a genuinely tiny first deposit, but its spread sits well above the Advantage floor, and Rewards and Rewards Plus lean on cashback style perks rather than tight pricing. None of those three accounts converts into Advantage automatically, so a trader who outgrows Micro has to open a fresh account and move funds across rather than upgrading in place. That extra step is minor next to the deposit change, but it is one more place where FXTM in 2026 asks for more patience than the broker used to.

What we liked

  • Advantage account spreads from 0.0 pips on forex with a $7 round-turn commission
  • Leverage up to 1:3000 (floating) on the Advantage account
  • MT4 and MT5 both supported natively alongside FXTM's own app
  • Regulated by the FSCA in South Africa and the FSC in Mauritius

What held it back

  • Advantage account minimum deposit now stands at $500 on FXTM's own page, not the $200 many older reviews still quote
  • FXTM Invest, the broker's copy trading app, was discontinued in 2024 with no direct replacement
  • FXTM's UK entity closed during 2026, removing FCA-level access for UK residents
  • Non-forex commissions (metals, indices, crypto, stocks) are quoted per notional value, not per lot, so cost comparison takes extra work
