Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil Review: Fine Tip, Tiny Pencil
An ultra-fine twist-up brow pencil for $28 that draws believable hair strokes on sparse brows. It holds only 0.08 g, so the cost adds up, and reviewers report fading well before the claimed 12 hours on oily skin.
Our verdict
The ultra-fine tip draws believable single hair strokes, which makes it a strong choice for sparse or over-tweezed brows. It holds only 0.08 g for $28, fills better than it shades, and independent reviewers report fading after about eight hours on oily or combination skin, short of the 12 hours Benefit claims.
Best forSparse or over-tweezed brows that need hair strokes
What we liked
- Ultra-fine tip draws believable single hair strokes
- Twist-up design means no sharpening and no tip wear
- Built-in spoolie on the opposite end for grooming
- 12 shades from light blonde and grey to deep brown
What held it back
- Only 0.08 g of product for $28, about $350 per gram
- Fades after about 8 hours on oily or combination skin
- Better for filling gaps than for shading a full brow
- Heavy users may need a new pencil about monthly
Start with the number nobody puts on the box: the pencil holds 0.08 g of product and costs $28. That is about $350 a gram, and it is why this review is less about whether the tip is fine (it is) and more about how long a sliver of pencil lasts when you wear brows five days a week.
We should be plain about what we know. We did not run a gym test or a lab trial of our own. This is built from Benefit's listing, retailer pages, and the long record of independent blog reviews, which agree on most things and disagree on one.
What the tip does well
The pencil is a twist-up design, so there is no sharpener and no wear on the point, with a small spoolie on the opposite end to brush brows into shape before and after. Benefit says it draws hair-like strokes, claims wear of up to 12 hours, and calls it waterproof and smudge-proof. It now comes in 12 shades, from a cool light blonde to deep brown and a grey.
The independent reviewers we read like the same thing about it. The formula glides without feeling creamy, and that matters more than it sounds. A very soft pencil melts into a blob on a fine tip; this one stays firm enough to draw a single hair stroke and stack several side by side. One reviewer with very thin brows said she used it to start the front of the brow with tiny strokes and then fill the rest, which is exactly the job a sparse brow needs.
