The Pro Plus earns its place over the base Carry-On Pro for one reason: the front pocket holds a laptop under hard polycarbonate instead of a soft external sleeve, which matters the first time a gate agent has to check the bag. The trade-off is a case that sits at the outer edge of most airlines' carry-on sizers and a telescoping handle that sticks when the case is packed full. We would buy the Pro Plus again for the pocket alone, but only travelers who actually carry a laptop through security lanes need to pay the difference.
