Super73 sells a silhouette. The long banana seat, the fat tyres and the low bars are a 1970s minibike, and that is why people buy these bikes rather than a conventional commuter with better numbers.
Underneath, the S2 is something much more ordinary and much more useful: a 20 mph Class 2 electric bicycle with a 500 W motor and a 480 Wh battery.
The specification nobody else publishes proudly
A 325 lb rider weight limit. Most electric bicycles quote 250 or 275 lb, print it in small type, and hope nobody checks.

Combined with a recommended rider height range of 5'1" to 6'8", it means the S2 fits a far wider set of people than the class average. For a large number of riders that is not a nice-to-have; it is the difference between a bike that works and a warranty you have already voided.
20 mph top speed under Class 2 throttle-only operation.
25–35 miles of range from a 480 Wh, UL2271-compliant pack.
500 W nominal motor with a thumb throttle and a single-speed drivetrain.
67 lb bike weight; 31-inch seat height.
Aluminium frame, Tektro two-piston brakes, five-hour charge.
The S2 is bought for how it looks and kept for how it fits. Those are not the same reason, and Super73 has been lucky that both point the same way.
The rigid frame is the honest flaw
There is no suspension. On smooth tarmac the fat tyres absorb enough that you do not notice; on a broken city street you notice constantly, and the long seat is the only thing between you and the road.
Super73's own R-Series exists precisely because of this. If your route is rough, spend the extra there rather than fitting a suspension seatpost to an S2 and hoping.
Who it is for
Riders who want the moped look without a licence, an insurance policy or a registration plate — and who need a bike rated for their weight and height. Within the Class 2 rules the S2 is legal on most American bike infrastructure.
It is not a distance machine and not a hill machine. Treat 25–35 miles as the real envelope and the S2 will not disappoint you.
