Rad Power Radster Road: 100 Nm, 45 km/h, and a brand that just changed hands

The Radster Road is the best bike Rad Power has built. It also arrived exactly as the company went through bankruptcy and was bought — something you need to weigh.

Tóm lại

The Radster Road carries the strongest specification Rad Power has ever published: 100 Nm, 45 km/h, more than 100 km of range. But Rad Power went through bankruptcy in late 2025 and changed owners in 2026, so the questions about long-term parts and warranty are real ones.

  • 100 Nm of torque — the highest of the e-bikes in this series
  • Assistance up to 28 mph (~45 km/h), Class 3 territory

  • Rad Power went through bankruptcy in late 2025 and changed owners — long-term parts risk
  • When we looked, the product page showed it as out of stock
  • 45 km/h is a speed that demands matching skill and protective gear

This review has two halves, and the second matters more than the first.

Part one: the bike

The Radster Road is the most complete bike Rad Power Bikes has produced. Four numbers say so: 750 W of power, 100 Nm of torque, assistance up to 28 mph or about 45 km/h, and a range of more than 65 miles — about 105 km.

100 Nm is the highest figure of any e-bike in this series. The Aventon Level 4 gives 80 Nm; 250 W models give 40 Nm. At 100 Nm the bike hauls you up a hill with barely any input — Rad Power puts it plainly as “conquer hills with 100 Nm of torque”.

A payload of 320 pounds, about 145 kg, covers a rider plus a heavy rucksack plus a loaded rack.

The detail we like most: locking by a PIN typed on the bike itself. No app, no need for a charged phone. The same philosophy as Velotric's NFC card, and equally welcome.

About that 45 km/h

This is a Class 3 bike under the US classification — assistance up to 28 mph while pedalling. At that speed a bicycle demands the braking and observation habits of a motorcyclist, not of a cyclist.

If you buy this bike, buy a good set of lights and a properly rated helmet with it. 45 km/h is not a free bonus.

PIN locking: why we like it

The industry trend is to move everything into a phone app. The Radster Road goes the other way, with a keypad on the bike.

Three situations show why that is the right call:

  1. Your phone is flat at the end of a long day. The bike still unlocks.

  2. You lend the bike to a friend. You read them four digits instead of making them install an app and create an account.

  3. The manufacturer's app stops being updated after a few years. The keypad still works.

That third case deserves particular thought on a brand that has just changed hands. When you buy a bike that depends on an app, you are betting that the app outlives the bike.

100 Nm in practice: when you actually feel it

Torque is easy to quote and hard to picture. At 100 Nm, here are three situations where you feel the difference immediately.

Pulling away from a stop line on a hill. The bike goes on your first pedal stroke, with no dead spot. On a 40 Nm bike you turn the cranks two or three times before assistance catches up.

Carrying weight. With a 145 kg payload and a full rucksack, the difference between 40 Nm and 100 Nm is the difference between sweating and not.

Overtaking inside a short gap. Here how fast you gain speed matters more than top speed — and torque is what produces it.

The price: high torque wears chains and sprockets faster, and it pulls harder on the pack. That is why the Radster Road's 105 km is less than the Velotric Discover 3's, despite a pack that is not much smaller.

Part two: the company behind it

Rad Power Bikes was once the largest e-bike seller in North America. At the end of 2025 the company went through bankruptcy proceedings, and during 2026 it was bought by new owners.

We raise this not to discuss business, but because it directly affects what you are buying:

  1. Which legal entity honours the warranty, and does it carry over intact?

  2. How long will replacement packs for the Radster Road keep being made? A model-specific proprietary battery is the fatal weakness when a company changes.

  3. Does the store and service network survive under the new owner?

None of those three has a certain answer today. On a purely mechanical bicycle, a change of ownership matters little — any mechanic can fix it. On a bike with a proprietary pack and its own controller, it matters a great deal.

When buying an electric machine from a company in flux, the most valuable question is: if this battery fails in three years, where do I buy another?

The verdict

We score it 7.9. The bike deserves 8.5. Half a point comes off for the parts risk — and at the time we looked at the page, this model was showing out of stock.

If you find one at a good price and accept that risk, this is still a great deal of torque for $1,999.
