Braking placed level with speed and power, among the first four facts a reader sees. That detail is why we score this machine above the other powerful scooters here.
Why the brakes are the most important specification here
The Thunder 3 exceeds 101 km/h. At that speed the stopping distance of any vehicle is long, and a two-wheeler on small wheels is further limited by its contact patch.
Four-piston hydraulic brakes — the same principle as the brakes on a large motorcycle — give a lighter lever, more braking force and, most importantly, more consistency when hot. Mechanical brakes or single-piston hydraulics fade after a few hard stops in a row; four pistons on a large rotor shed heat far better.
The rule for buying a performance scooter: look at the brakes before you look at the power. A 5500 W × 2 machine with the brakes of a 500 W machine is a product that should not exist.
Dualtron describes the Thunder 3 as the most reliable and the fastest Thunder yet, with redesigned motors and brakes. The phrase “redesigned brakes” inside a performance-upgrade announcement is a good sign.
11,000 W and 130 km
Two 5500 Wmotors, 11,000 W combined. For comparison within this series: the Kaabo Mantis King GT has 1100 W × 2, one fifth as much.
Dualtron justifies the power in practical terms: it climbs steep gradients. That is the right use of power — not for 101 km/h but so the machine never bogs down on a hill, whatever you weigh.
The range of 80 miles, about 130 km, is described by Dualtron as a week of commuting. It is the highest figure of any scooter in this series, and it comes from a very large pack — which is what makes the machine heavy.
IPX5: a detail few in this class publish
Dualtron states an IPX5 rating — it withstands low-pressure water jets from any direction.
IPX5 is not the top rating; the Velotric Discover 3 in this series has an IPX7-rated battery. But on a performance scooter, publishing any IP figure at all is rare. Most powerful-scooter brands say nothing whatsoever about water.
IPX5 means: you can ride in rain and rinse it with a gentle hose. It does not mean you can ride through a flooded street.
$3,299, and the comparison nobody wants to hear
The sale price is $3,299 .
For that money you could buy a Vmoto TC Max and have change left over: a road-legal 95 km/h electric motorbike with a proper seat, motorcycle-sized wheels, and a licence plate that lets you use any road.
That comparison does not make the Thunder 3 a bad product. It just says this is not transport — it is an enthusiast's machine, and it should be judged as one.
130 km: what the number really means
Dualtron describes the 80-mile range as “enough for a week of commuting”. Test that claim.
A commuting week of 13 km each way, five days, is 130 km. The numbers match — but only under test conditions.
On a machine with 11,000 W combined, how you ride decides range more than any other factor. Cruise steadily at 30 km/h and 130 km is realistic. Ride at 80 km/h and accelerate hard away from every light, and plan for a third of it.
Worth saying: this is not dishonesty on the maker's part. Every electric vehicle measures range in favourable conditions, because that is the only way to produce a comparable number. The problem only appears when a buyer reads that number as a promise.
On this machine we would plan around 60 to 70 km if you intend to use it the way it was designed to be used.
Dualtron USA earns one real credit
Their page states: collection from the shop, usually ready within 24 hours, with a phone number right at the top of the page.
On a product whose owner will be changing tyres, changing pads and adjusting controllers, having a physical shop is a large difference from buying from a website alone.
We score it 8.2. The machine is done properly everywhere it counts. The score is not higher because the risk and the legal difficulty are real, and this series scores what you can use, not only what you can own.
